Advisory & Engagement
Focused on the work.
Open to the right conversations.
I'm happily engaged in operating work right now and not looking to change that. What I am open to is a small number of advisory, consulting, and board relationships where there's a specific problem, genuine fit, and something worth working on together.
The categories below describe what those situations tend to look like — and what they don't. If yours fits, I'd welcome the conversation.
Commercial Advisory
A small number of sustained advisory relationships where there is genuine fit, a real problem, and the kind of working dynamic that produces something useful. Revenue strategy, go-to-market architecture, channel development, commercial system design — working directly with leadership over time. Not a project engagement. A working relationship.
Good Fit
Growth-stage businesses at a commercial inflection. Founders and executive teams with a specific, material challenge they're willing to think hard about together.
Probably Not
One-off calls, strategy reviews without accountability, or situations where the commercial challenge hasn't been clearly defined yet.
Board Advisory
Selectively open to independent director and observer roles where a commercially and operationally grounded perspective would be genuinely useful — not just present. I care most about businesses where the governance work is real, and where I can contribute something beyond showing up.
Good Fit
PE-backed and founder-led companies navigating commercial scale, channel complexity, or a transition in business stage. Boards that want someone who has actually built things.
Probably Not
Boards that need a passive member. Situations where the governance work is nominal or primarily ceremonial.
Nonprofit Advisory
Some of the most meaningful work I can do sits outside of commercial businesses. I'm open to a small number of advisory relationships with nonprofits operating at the intersection of areas I care deeply about — economic mobility, workforce development, community health, and mission-driven organizations building something durable.
Good Fit
Nonprofits with a serious operating challenge where commercial or organizational experience would be genuinely useful. Leaders who want a thinking partner, not a figurehead.
Probably Not
Situations where advisory is primarily for credentialing. Organizations that haven't yet identified a specific problem they're trying to solve.
Speaking & Conversation
Talks grounded in real operating experience: building commercial systems, how modern tooling is actually changing business leverage, the leadership questions that don't get asked enough. Honest perspective from inside the work — not polished frameworks that look clean but skip the hard parts.
Good Fit
Executive off-sites, leadership programs, industry conferences, private roundtables. Audiences that want perspective over performance.
Probably Not
Generic keynotes. Audiences looking for inspiration over substance.
"I've made enough mistakes to know what I actually know — and what I don't. When the fit is right, I try to be genuinely useful. When it isn't, I'll tell you that too."
If you have a specific challenge and think there might be real fit here, reach out. I'll be straightforward with you about whether I'm the right person to help.
